Firework night can be incredibly stressful for our beloved pets - and for us, too. Knowing our animals are anxious means many of us dread this time of year rather than celebrate it. At Brentwood Bubbles n’ Barks, we understand just how upsetting it can be, so here are some gentle, practical tips to help keep your dog calm, safe, and supported tonight.
Create a Safe, Cosy Haven
Prepare a quiet, comforting space where your dog feels secure:
Close curtains to reduce flashes.
Add blankets, toys, and even a T-shirt with your scent.
Use background noise like calming music or TV
Keep Routine Steady
Familiar routines help reassure anxious dogs. Try to walk earlier before fireworks begin, then stick to regular feeding and bedtime as much as possible.
Stay Calm & Supportive

Dogs mirror our emotions. Offer calm reassurance with quiet presence - sit with them, speak to them and give them lots of strokes if they want them.
Consider Soothing Aids
If your dog is prone to anxiety, you might find support in:
Calming sprays or plug-ins (like Adaptil)
Snug anti-anxiety wraps
Vet-approved calming treats or supplements
Always follow guidance for products and speak to your vet if unsure.
Provide Distraction

Some dogs relax with mental engagement. Try:
Lick mats or stuffed Kongs
Puzzle toys
Gentle indoor games
Chewing and licking especially help release calming hormones.
Keep Them Safe
Ensure all doors and fences are secure
Keep collars/ID tags on
Double-check microchip details are up to date
Even the calmest pets can panic at sudden noise.
Know When to Seek Extra Support
If anxiety becomes severe, don’t hesitate to contact your vet. Noise sensitivity can worsen over time, and there are professional options to help.
We're With You
We know how hard this night can be. You're doing your best for your furry friend, and that makes a world of difference to them. A little preparation and a lot of love go a long way.
Sending calming cuddles to all our four-legged friends tonight.
